Summoning Circle

In this troubled time I call to you,
Being from behind the veil that separates worlds;
As countless foes surround me,
Crawling from every recess in this world,
I seek your aid,
Being from beyond the veil.

The circle has been crafted with the utmost of care,
To allow your mighty soul to enter our world;
This offering of blood shall grant thee a new body,
With which you shall sweep aside those that stand before us;
And this last exhalation of breath,
A gasp that empties the lungs and makes the flesh grow cold,
Shall be the final sacrifice to seal the pact.

Now let your new life begin.

Finished watching the anime "Fate Stay Night" for the second time not too long ago, and it really made me want to try creating a summoning circle. So, with that as inspiration, the piece above slowly came together.

The most difficult, and most enjoyable, part of the piece was trying to design all of the different symbols that surrounded the various parts of the circle. I wanted them to be abstract, but with the viewer seeing specific items in them at the same time.

I am quite pleased with how this one turned out.
