RWBY OC: Dorian Gray

Description

Well, I've been watching a lot of Monty Oum's series RWBY on Rooster Teeth, and thought I might as well take a crack at making my own OC in the incredible world of Remnant.
————————————————————————————————————————————————

Name: Dorian Gray
Semblance: Art Armory
Weapon: Shroud of Ages and Fiend Brush
Symbol: Stylized Face, Half Young, Half Old
Profession: Instructor in training new Huntsmen and Huntresses, Leader of Hunting Team DUSK
Drink of Choice: Red Wine
Likes: His personal strength and combat prowess.
Dislikes: The imperfection and laziness of the
Common Saying: Did you dare to think you were actually worth my time?

Dorian Gray has now been a Huntsman for over 30 years, but he looks the same as the day he graduated from his initial training, albeit with numerous new scars to brag about.  He possesses an instinctive charm that draws others forward to listen when he speaks, but the coldness of his mannerisms and harshness in dealings with most people often leave others wishing to distance themselves once they know him better.  This tendency often makes students in either of the classes that he instructs; Advanced Combat Maneuvers and Tactics, or Advanced Visual Art; incredibly reluctant to ask questions, and even generate a looming feeling of dread prior to exams or turning in projects.  Mercy is not a word found in his vocabulary.

From a young age Dorian was shown to be truly gifted with art, and his parents expected he would become a world renowned artist as he grew older.  That was until the ancient item known as the Shroud of Ages, a dueling cape covered in flowing pools of Dust-infused ink, found its way into his possession.  Rapidly his art took on a darker edge, no less beautiful but somehow slightly more disturbing to behold.  His talent grew in leaps and bounds, but cruel fate ensured that he would never become an artist, and instead be thrust into the noble calling of a Huntsman.  A pack of Beowolves assaulted his family's home late one night, slaughtering all of his relatives before Dorian was able to slay them with the offensive capabilities of the Shroud of Ages.

After that day Dorian dedicated himself to honing his abilities to slaughter the Creatures of Grimm, and with the powers available to him he proved to excel at it.  Thanks to the combined powers of the Shroud of Ages, and his Semblance, anything that Dorain wished to create with the inks of his cloak became reality.  Weapons would materialize before him, shields would defend him, bullets would carve gaping wounds as they were flung forward, and hordes of strange creatures would rise up around him and destroy his enemies.

Facing himself against stronger and stronger enemies, Dorian soon grew to savour the excitement and exhilaration of combat.  He did not fight monsters to protect people, make the world a better place, or any gleaming ideology.  He fought because he enjoyed it, because it gave him a great deal of pleasure.  Huntresses or Huntsmen that worked with him in the field who did not share his enthusiasm often found themselves injured in strange accidents, or never made their way back to civilization at all.

Now Dorian finds himself educating the Huntsmen and Huntresses of tomorrow with poorly concealed frustration and disappointment.  Maintaining this position has allowed himself to encounter and mold others that hold similar longings and ideals as he seeks to fulfill.  Thanks to this he has formed a new hunting group with a collection of recent graduates that he instructed.  They are called team DUSK, and they are growing a great reputation for their efficiency, and nervous whisperings about their brutality.

How long the three that follow him will be able to keep up to Dorian's cripplingly high expectations is anyone's guess, but anywhere they go they tear a fierce hole into the population of the Creatures of Grimm.  Let us just hope that the monsters can prove challenge enough that they do not seek to turn their skills on other prey...
